END-USER GROUP

The aim of the End-User Group (EUG) is to involve industries and academic institutions for the validation of the novel HPC technologies and solutions produced by the project. This synergy generates valuable feedback to the project in order to align its objectives and deliverables with end-user needs.

The EUG consists of representatives from various industries, including (but not limited to) Automotive, Energy, Oil/Gas, Aerospace, Pharmaceutical and Financial.

The participant companies have the opportunity not only to test their applications on novel architectures but also to take part in the official training plan.

Mont-Blanc provides EUG members with:

  • Remote access to Mont-Blanc prototype platforms
  • Support in platform evaluation and performance analysis
  • Invitation to the Mont-Blanc training programme

The currently available platforms include:

  • 72-node cluster of Quad-core ARM Cortex-A9 processors, 2 GB of DDR3 per node, 1 GbE interconnect
  • 3-node cluster of Dual-core ARM Cortex-A15 processors + ARM Mali-T604 GPU accelerator, 2 GB of DDR3 per node, 1 GbE interconnect
Expected to grow to 50-100 nodes with 4GB of DDR3 before June 2014, and to 800-1000 nodes before October’14 (Mont-Blanc prototype)
  • 24-node cluster of Quad-core ARM Cortex-A15 processors, 3 GB of DDR3 per node, 1 GbE interconnect

The project will be extending these platforms with new ARM-based compute nodes as soon as they become available. The project supports C, C++, Fortran, OpenMP, MPI, and OpenCL applications. The project encourages EUG members to test the OmpSs programming model.

An invitation to membership can be requested from the EUG coordinator, Marcin Ostasz.
