Monday, December 7, 2015

For the second time, the Spanish team from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalaunya. Barcelona Tech (UPC) will compete at the fifth ISC-HPCAC Student Cluster Competition that will be organized during the ISC16 conference from June 19 – 23,2016 in Frankfurt (Germany). The purpose of this friendly and spirited competition is to introduce the next generation of students to the HPC community and its technology. The Spanish team will compete jointly with a total of 12 student teams in real time over a three-day period on the ISC Exhibition floor. Competing directly with another team that goes with an ARM-based architecture, the Spanish team will build a 64-bit ARM computer cluster and run a series of HPC benchmarks and applications.

This year’s Spanish team, with Filippo Mantovani as an advisor, is formed by the following UPC students: Juan Francisco Martínez, Kevin Sala Penadés, Sandra Corella Pérez, Elisabet V. Breix, Yinghao Xu and Josep Castro Salvadó.

Last year the Spanish team, called MontBlanc climbers, participated at this competition for its first time. You can see the ISC15 Student Competition video here
